Christmas in Penrith (Formally The Winter Festival) came about through the collaboration of members of the Penrith Chamber of Trade and Commerce to promote businesses in town and encourage visitors to come to penrith to do their Christmas Shopping. Penrith Business Improvement District
The BID is a business-led initiative where local businesses and organisations are invited to come together, in partnership with the local authority, to make decisions and to take action. The BID is a means by which local businesses and organisations have the power to raise funds that can be used for local initiatives with the aim of improving the trading environment. The Pride in Penrith Lottery
The Pride in Penrith Lottery is a local lottery in Penrith. It has the objectives of improving the town; ensuring local events continue to take place, help local good causes and ensures the community spirit of Penrith remains as it faces changes. The Lottery gives local people the opportunity to contribute to the town's well being, as all the money they place on the Lottery goes back into the community...as well as making some people that little bit wealthier!www.prideinpenrith.co.uk
Penrith Town Council
Penrith Town Council gives views, on behalf of the community, on planning applications and other proposals that affect the parish, undertakes projects and schemes that benefit local residents, works in partnership with other bodies to achieve benefits for the parish, alerts relevant authorities to problems that arise or work that needs to be undertaken and helps the other tiers of local government keep in touch with their local communities.
Penrith Town Council will be liaising with public bodies and organisations to consider the Council’s involvement in the provision of services and resources.

Val Corbett works as a freelance photographer who lives on the eastern fringes of the Lake District. Over the past 30 years she have built up an extensive photographic library of images of the Lake District, the lesser-known beautiful outer fringes in Cumbria as well as seasonal details. She has become recognised for her garden photography, which is frequently published in magazines such as Country Life.
Upfront Gallery and vegetarian restaurant are located near Penrith, Cumbria in a rural setting in beautifully converted 17th century farm buildings.
The gallery is the home of Upfront Puppet Theatre and the workshops of artist, John Parkinson, who is the co-founder and owner of the gallery, along with his wife, Elaine.
The gallery presents a changing program of exhibitions throughout the year. In mid January it holds the "Upfront Open Exhibition". This is a selected exhibition by a panel of judges and entries are welcome from artists from Cumbria and beyond.
